Just the regular places in Tokyo and surrounding areas. Any suggestions for cool things to see/do?

Touristically speaking, no haha

But if you want to go out, I like to start evenings around Shinbashi, in tiny bars and restaurant which are very fun (the smallest, the better usually :) )

Then, maybe roppongi clubs if you’re with (male) friends lol, harajuku, if you want to see “weird tokyo”, or just Shibuya... Lots of tourists there, so easier to communicate and meet people if you don’t speak a word of Japanese.

If your nights finish around 5am, stop by Tsukiji Market on your way back, when they get the fishes very early morning, it’s pretty cool to see.

Nah, Married with wife and kids. I got Roppongi and drinking until I can’t see straight out of my systen long ago. Oh, forgot to mention. I speak passable Japanese, so getting around isn’t a problem. I was just checking to see if there is anything really cool that’s started up there in the last three years that’s a must see.

Yeah, that won’t help with Roppongi lol

I guess with kids, you could go and see the full size Gundam statue? It’s been around for a bit more than 3 years I though...

That would require you to take the Yurikamome Line which is truly awesome! Try to take it early morning when the Tokyo Bay wakes up. It’s just awesome! Or late at night with all the boats and lights everywhere.

This video doesn’t do it justice though as what is mostly interesting is are what’s on your side. But it really gives you an awesome tour of the Bay that you won’t regret. Early morning or at night are the best. And sit up front. The train is unmanned now, unlike in the video.

So this line won’t leave me packed I like a sardine at either of those times?

Nah, last time, I boarded in Shinbashi and it was just liek a normal train. Boarding in Shinbashi is cool, because it is the start of the line, so you can get in the very front of the train to get the best view. It’s not very crowded, even around 7am so...

If somebody is queuing in front of you to get the seats, just wait for the next train, they come every 3 minutes or so.

I might try it on the weekend. During the week we’d have to come up from Yokohama so we’d have to get through the early morning crush of workers at Kawasaki. Try that ride sometime of you really want to get up close and personal with someone!
